The Chair of Enterprise Computing is participating in the funding line "Research or development of practice-relevant solution aspects ("building blocks") for data trust models" advertised by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

Data trust models (DTMs) are pioneering concepts for the secure management, control and use of data. They act as intermediaries between data owners and users to ensure secure and regulated access to sensitive or protected data. Despite their enormous potential for data-based innovation, these models face numerous socio-technical and technological challenges. In this context, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is funding the project "Process patterns for neutral data trust models (proDTM)". This project aims to overcome these challenges by developing specific process templates that regulate the access and use of data.

Process templates are defined templates that serve as the basis for controlling the access and use of data. They are designed to be adapted to different scenarios based on specific characteristics. The inclusion of neutrality, transparency, autonomy and governance in these templates aims to unify the objectives of all parties involved in order to increase the acceptance of DTM in different sectors such as the private sector, the public sector and civil society and thus maximize the potential for value creation. The flexibility of these patterns is a crucial aspect that not only defines the structure of data control, but also provides a customizable foundation. This allows resources to be precisely allocated and configuration points to be defined to enable customization to a variety of scenarios. These process patterns are to be iteratively improved through comprehensive evaluations under real application scenarios. Particular attention is paid to defining clear and practical evaluation criteria. This approach ensures that the developed process patterns meet practical requirements and form a robust basis for their efficient application.

The "proDTM" research project aims to optimize the use of data trust models by developing and implementing such process patterns. Further information can be found on the website of proDTM of the Chair of Enterprise Computing: proDTM - EC - TU Dortmund.
