MINTU

MinTU is a group mentoring project for around 40 schoolgirls between the ages of 12 and 14 each year. The goal is to get girls excited about STEM subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). The project centers on personal contact between a small group of five to six schoolgirls (mentees) and a female STEM student (mentor). The schoolgirls are given an insight into the STEM courses offered by the departments of the TU Dortmund University and are able to do so directly on site. To this end, the schoolgirls take part in various workshops within the eight STEM departments during the course of the year. On the other hand, meetings of the mentoring groups also take place outside the university, where they can exchange information about study content, processes and career opportunities, as well as gain insights into the life of a student. At the end of the year, the students and mentors receive a certificate of successful participation in the project. Participation is free of charge for female students.
