By car

The campus of the Technical University of Dortmund is located near the freeway junction Dortmund West, where the Sauerland line A45 crosses the Ruhr expressway B1/A40. The Dortmund-Eichlinghofen exit on the A45 leads to the South Campus, the Dortmund-Dorstfeld exit on the A40 leads to the North Campus. The university is signposted at both exits.

By bus and train

The "Dortmund Universität" S-Bahn station is located directly on the North Campus. From there, the S-Bahn line S1 runs every 20 or 30 minutes to Dortmund main station and in the opposite direction to Düsseldorf main station via Bochum, Essen and Duisburg. In addition, the university can be reached by bus lines 445, 447 and 462. One of the landmarks of the TU Dortmund is the H-Bahn. Line 1 runs every 10 minutes between Dortmund Eichlinghofen and the Technology Center via Campus South and Dortmund University S, while Line 2 commutes every 5 minutes between Campus North and Campus South. It covers this distance in two minutes.

By plane

From Dortmund Airport, the AirportExpress takes just over 20 minutes to Dortmund's main train station, and from there, the S-Bahn takes you to the university. A wider range of international flight connections is offered by Düsseldorf Airport, about 60 kilometers away, which can be reached directly by S-Bahn from the university's train station.

Study plans

The study plans help you organize your studies. In the first semester, you have almost no choices. You can rest easy if you are not sure about the study plans at this point.

Events for students of the bachelor program "Computer Science" in the first semester

Normally, you will attend three or four modules in your first semester. Only if you choose the minor subject Mathematics, you will not hear "Mathematics for Computer Scientists".

Modules if you do not choose mathematics or electrical engineering as a minor subject

If you do not wish to minor in mathematics or eectrotechnology, or if you do not yet know which minor you wish to choose, you are recommended to take the following modules in your first semester.

Modules if you choose electrical engineering as a minor

If you wish to choose Electrical Engineering as a minor, you are recommended to take the following three modules in the first semester. The Electrical Engineering and Communications Technology (ETKT) module is omitted. Since Electrical Engineering Mathematics can only be started in the winter semester, you cannot choose a module from the Electrical Engineering minor instead of Electrical Engineering and Communications Technology (ETKT). Of course, you can choose the minor in Electrical Engineering even if you start in the summer semester. You may have to take more credits than usual in one of the upcoming semesters. You can also try to take the Operating Systems module in the first semester.

Modules if you choose mathematics as a minor subject

If you wish to choose Mathematics as a minor, you are recommended to take the following three modules in the first semester. The module Mathematics for Computer Science 2 is omitted. Since the minor in mathematics can only be started in the winter semester, you cannot choose a module of the minor in mathematics instead of mathematics for computer science 2. Of course, you can choose the minor in mathematics even if you start in the summer semester. You may have to take more credits than usual in one of the upcoming semesters. You can also try to take the Operating Systems module in your first semester.
